WHAT WE DO

We put power behind positive change already in motion.

Many have nobly stepped in where systems fail, but they are often working in isolation. We bring together diverse campaigns with related goals, positioning them as actionable solutions to pressing, visible problems.

HOW IT WORKS

Farmer planting seeds in rows of tilled soil.

This isn't fundraising as usual. It's public pressure, purposely focused.

Create

Every campaign starts with a clear story, strategy, and set of goals. Our team reviews and verifies each submission to ensure integrity and impact, then prepares it for launch.

Ants on a log working together to carry large leaves.

This isn't fundraising as usual. It's public pressure, purposely focused.

Collaborate

Through media and outreach, we ignite visibility and help campaigns break through the noise. Aligned audiences respond—not just with donations, but with action, energy, and resolve.

This isn't fundraising as usual. It's public pressure, purposely focused.

Catalyze

Together, we remove financial barriers and replace resignation with possibility. The result isn't charity. It's consequence. Campaigns ignite legal action, policy reform, and system transformation.

Funding Modes

Two distinct pathways, aligned to how cases unfold and built to maximize impact.

Pay-It-Forward Grant

Fund one case. Fuel many more.

Donations flow through WHEN to support campaigns that have the potential to recover legal costs. If cases succeed and recover costs, funds flow back into the grant pool to support future work—allowing each contribution to extend beyond a single campaign.

Direct Support

Funding where it’s needed – without unnecessary detours.

When cost recovery is not possible, donations flow directly to campaigns via our payment processor, Stripe – ensuring that funds go straight to the work. Campaigns that typically fit this model are early-stage, investigative, or regulatory.

FOCUS AREAS

Campaign Pillars

Everyday concerns driving long-term solutions.

Stacked rows of green apples.
Bird's-eye view of rows of rooftops nestled amongst trees.
Pile of empty, cardboard boxes.
Empty shopping carts in return bay within parking lot.
Coiled data cables plugged into server.

Change can be done. We can take on these big, complicated environmental efforts that are wrapped in lawsuits and bureaucracy.”

$100K to Plaintiff Drives AT&T to Settle & Remove 107,000 Pounds of Toxic Lead Cables from Lake Tahoe

In 2024, WHEN founder Roland Peralta gave a forgivable-recoverable grant to the California Sportfishing Protection Alliance (CSPA), helping secure a settlement with AT&T to remove six miles of abandoned telecommunications cables that had been leaching toxic lead into Lake Tahoe for decades.
